Plans, credits and billing

Plans and what each includes

The devlin.ai plans, what each one includes, what the Plans page shows for your workspace and role, and how founders pricing works.

Plans: All plansView as Markdown
On this page

Every workspace is on one plan, and the plan decides its credits, limits and features. Anyone signed in can open Settings → Plans to compare plans for the workspace they are in; which buttons a plan card offers depends on the workspace type and, in an organization, on your role.

The plans

There are five plans: Free, Starter, Core, Team and Enterprise.

  • Free is where every new workspace starts. It has no card on the Plans page.
  • Starter and Core are for a personal workspace. An organization cannot subscribe to either.
  • Team is for an organization workspace. A personal workspace cannot hold it: choosing it from a personal workspace starts the organization setup.
  • Enterprise has no checkout. devlin.ai arranges it with you and sets the plan on your workspace.

A workspace's plan is not a setting you edit. It changes only when a checkout completes, a plan change takes effect, a subscription ends, or devlin.ai arranges a plan for you. The account menu shows the active workspace's name and plan under your email address.

Prices and credits

Prices are in US dollars. The Annual and Monthly toggle at the top of the Plans page switches every card and the comparison table between the two billing cycles; the page opens on Annual.

Starter Core Team Enterprise
Billed monthly, per month $9 $59 $499 Custom
Billed annually, per month $6 $59 $499 Custom
Billed annually, per year $72 $708 $5,988 Custom
Credits on monthly billing, per month 5,000 35,000 350,000 Custom
Credits on annual billing, granted up front for the year 60,000 420,000 4,200,000 Custom
Designer seats One One 5 included, up to 15 Custom

On Team, each seat beyond the included ones costs $59 per month and adds 35,000 credits per month to the team's shared pool. Seats are covered in Members, roles, invitations and the activity log.

The Starter, Core and Team cards also name the number of learners the plan is sized for. How credits are spent, how long they last and how top-ups work is in Credits, usage and low-credit alerts.

Limits

Free Starter Core Team Enterprise
Hosting storage 500 MB 1 GB 2.5 GB 10 GB 50 GB
Hosting bandwidth per month 5 GB 10 GB 25 GB 100 GB 500 GB
Hosted projects 5 10 50 250 1,000
Custom domains Not available 1 5 50 200

Hosting follows the workspace's plan: a personal workspace and an organization workspace on the same plan get the same allowance. The one exception is an organization created at the Free workspace limit to subscribe to Team: it has no hosting until its checkout is paid. See Personal and organization workspaces. Hosting itself is covered in Hosting and SCORM Wrap.

Features

  • Voice-mode simulations are included on every plan the Plans page lists.
  • Buying credit top-ups: Core, Team, Enterprise.
  • Removing devlin.ai branding from simulations and hiding the loading screens: Core, Team, Enterprise. See Appearance and branding.
  • SCORM and xAPI packages: Core, Team, Enterprise. See LMS packages.
  • A shared library, member roles, admin controls and the activity log: Team, Enterprise.
  • Connecting AI tools over MCP: Core, Team, Enterprise.
  • SAML single sign-on: Enterprise. See SSO and MFA.
  • Power BI data sync: Enterprise. See Power BI export.

What the Plans page shows

The page heading is Plans. Below the plan cards, Compare plans in detail is a table with rows such as Credits, Designer seats, Learners, Hosting storage, Bandwidth / month, Hosted projects and Custom domains.

In a personal workspace

You see three cards, for Starter, Core and Team, with an Enterprise band beneath them. The comparison table has a column for each of the four. You are always the owner of your personal workspace, so every action is available to you.

Your current plan Starter card Core card
Free Subscribe to Starter Subscribe to Core
Starter Manage subscription Upgrade to Core
Core Switch to Starter Manage subscription
  • Manage subscription opens the billing portal for the subscription you already have.
  • When a payment is past due, the card for your current plan shows Update payment instead of Manage subscription, and the Core card shows Update payment instead of Upgrade to Core. A plan change is refused until the payment method is updated.
  • Once a switch to Starter is scheduled, the Starter card shows the date it takes effect and a Cancel switch button.
  • The Team card shows Subscribe to Team. It opens the organization setup, where you pick or create the organization that will hold the subscription, then continue to checkout. You can own up to 3 workspaces on the Free plan, your personal workspace included. If you are already at that limit, you can still create a new organization here to subscribe it: it has no hosting until the checkout is paid, and it is removed if you never pay and never use it. See Personal and organization workspaces.

What happens after you click these buttons, including proration, credits and dates, is in Changing, switching or cancelling a subscription.

In an organization workspace

You see two cards, Team and Enterprise, and the comparison table has only those two columns. Every member can open the page. The Team card depends on your role:

Role Team card
Owner Subscribe to Team while the organization is on neither Team nor Enterprise. Manage subscription on Team, or Update payment when a payment is past due. On Enterprise plan on Enterprise; that button is disabled, because plan changes go through devlin.ai.
Admin Request upgrade from owner while the organization is on neither Team nor Enterprise; after that, "Billing is managed by the workspace owner." The request emails the owner, and the card then shows "Request sent to the workspace owner." If you already asked recently, the card shows "You've already asked recently. Please try again later." If the email cannot be sent, the card shows "Couldn't send the request. Please try again."
Member No button. The card shows "Billing is managed by the workspace owner."

Only the owner can subscribe an organization or open its billing portal. The same rule is enforced on the server, so an admin or member cannot do either by another route. Roles are explained in Members, roles, invitations and the activity log, and switching workspaces in Workspaces.

Plans billed by invoice

If devlin.ai set up your Core or Team plan by invoice, there is no card subscription behind it. The card for your current plan then shows a note that the plan is billed by invoice, with the devlin.ai email address to contact for renewals and changes, in place of Manage subscription. On an invoiced Core plan, the Starter card shows "Plan changes for invoiced plans go through your devlin.ai contact."

The Upgrade pill

An Upgrade pill appears next to Plans in the settings navigation and in the account menu when the active workspace has a higher plan to move to:

  • In a personal workspace, while it is on Free or Starter.
  • In an organization workspace, while it is on neither Team nor Enterprise.

The pill is shown to every role. It is only a shortcut to the Plans page.

Founders pricing

Founders pricing is a lower price on Core and Team, offered for a limited founders window. Starter has no founders price.

Standard, per month Founders, per month
Core $59 $39
Team $499 $399
Each extra Team seat $59 $39

Where it shows

While the founders window is open, the Core and Team cards carry a founders pricing badge (on the Team card it reads Founders Pricing) and show the founders price with the standard price struck through. Once the window has closed, the cards show standard prices, except to a workspace that would still be charged the founders price at checkout: one whose subscription started while the window was open, or one that devlin.ai has extended a founders offer to.

How you get it

Whether a subscription gets founders pricing is decided when it starts on Core or Team: at checkout, or when a Starter subscription is upgraded to Core. It gets the founders price when the founders window is open, when the subscription itself was started while the window was open, or when devlin.ai has extended a founders offer to your workspace that has not expired.

How you keep it

Switching between monthly and annual billing keeps the founders price.

How you lose it

  • When the subscription ends and the workspace returns to Free, the founders record is cleared. A new subscription started after the window has closed is at the standard price, unless devlin.ai has extended a founders offer to the workspace.
  • Starter has no founders price, so a subscription switched from Core to Starter is billed at the Starter price. If your subscription is on founders pricing, the confirmation says: "Starter has no founders pricing, so your current founders rate does not carry over."

Contacting devlin.ai about a custom plan

The Enterprise card or band offers Book a Call, which opens a scheduling page in a new tab, with a send us your details link beneath it. Where no scheduling page is configured, the card shows a single Contact us button instead. The link and the button both open the Contact us about Enterprise form. Every role sees it.

The form asks for your work email address, your name, your role (with a text box when you choose "Other"), the size of your design team, roughly how many learners will use simulations, and what you want to accomplish. You also tick a box to agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms. Every field is required, and the description can be up to 5,000 characters.

Click Send. The form changes to Submission received with a thank-you message, then closes on its own. If the request fails for any reason, including an email address that cannot receive mail, the form shows "Something went wrong. Please try again." Sending the form again with the same email address replaces your earlier answers.

Sending the form does not change your plan or start any billing.

When a workspace returns to the free plan

When a subscription ends and the workspace goes back to Free, the paid-only appearance settings on its simulations are reset: the devlin.ai footer and the loading-screen branding are shown again, and the widget background returns to fully opaque. Features that depend on the plan, such as LMS packages, top-ups and hosting limits, follow the new plan immediately. The rest of what a cancellation does is in Changing, switching or cancelling a subscription.

AI tools over MCP

An AI tool connected over MCP can read a workspace overview: the workspace name, its plan, your role, the credit balance, and how many simulations and coaches it holds. It cannot subscribe, change the plan or buy credits. See MCP server and AI tool connectors.
