A results link gives a trainer or manager a page that shows how learners did in one or more of your simulations, without a devlin.ai account. The page is read-only and updates by itself as learners finish, so one link can follow a class from the first attempt to the last. It is available on every plan. It is off until an owner or admin turns it on for the workspace.
Before you start
- Turn results links on for the workspace. See "Turn results links on" below.
- Learner names appear on a link only if your workspace collects learner identity and you are allowed to see it. See Collecting learner identity.
- An AI debrief uses the workspace's credits. See Credits, usage and low-credit alerts.
Turn results links on
- As an owner or admin, open Settings → Data & privacy → Results links.
- Turn on Allow results links.
- Under Who can create results links, choose Owners and admins or All members.
Each change is saved as soon as you make it. Nobody else can see or change these two settings. If results links are off, Share results and the Results links page show "Results links are turned off for this workspace. An owner or admin can turn them on in Settings, Data and privacy." An owner or admin also gets a Turn on button there. A member who is not allowed to create links sees "Only owners and admins can create results links in this workspace."
While results links are off, an owner or admin can still turn a link off or delete it on the Results links page. Nothing else can be done to a link until results links are turned on again: no new links, no edits and no turning a link back on. Members cannot change links at all while results links are off.
In a workspace that collects learner identity, a member who is not allowed to see learner names can only turn off or delete a link that shows names. They cannot edit it and cannot turn it back on, and the page says "You can't edit a link that shares learner names. Ask an owner or admin."
Steps
This creates a link from a simulation. Turn results links on first.
- Open the simulation in the editor and select the Results stage.
- Select Share results. You can also select New results link on Results → Results links.
- Fill in the form, then select Create link.
- Copy the link with Copy link, or select Open to see what the trainer will see.
The form has these fields:
- Name this link: shown to your team and at the top of the trainer's page, for example the class it is for.
- Simulations: choose up to 10 simulations. Type in Search simulations to narrow the list by name; searching never changes what is checked. On a link with more than one, the trainer picks which simulation to view from a Simulation dropdown.
- Show attempts from: Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, All time or Custom dates. The rolling choices move with time, so one link works for every class. For Custom dates, enter a Start and an optional End.
- Only learners where: shown when your workspace collects learner identity and has at least one choice-list identity field. Pick a value to pin the link to those learners, for example one region or one cohort. A trainer cannot widen a pinned choice.
- What viewers can open: Results only, Results and feedback, or Results, feedback and transcripts.
- Show learner names: on by default when you are allowed to share names. When you are not, the switch is off and locked, and says "You can't share learner names from this workspace". Identity fields follow this switch: the trainer sees identity field columns and filters only on a link that shows names. If a chosen simulation does not collect learner identity, names and filters do not apply to its attempts.
- Include an AI debrief: see "The AI debrief".
- Link expires after: 1, 7, 30, 90, 365 days. The default is 30 days.
Result
You get a link that opens the live results page. It works until it expires or you turn it off or delete it.
A workspace can have 50 active links at once. Past that, creating or turning on another is refused until you turn one off or delete one.
Manage links
Open Results → Results links. Each link shows its name, who created it, its simulations, what it shows, whether the AI debrief is on, when it expires and when it was last opened.
- Copy link and Open share or preview the link. A member who is not allowed to see learner names does not get the address of a link that shows names: the card says "Ask an owner or admin for this link."
- Edit opens the same form. Choosing a new expiry restarts it from today; leaving it on Keep current expiry keeps the current date.
- The switch next to the name turns a link off for everyone who has it, and back on. Nothing is lost while it is off.
- Delete asks "Delete this results link?" and removes it. Anyone using the link loses access right away. Attempts and results are not affected.
- Needs attention appears on a link that no longer works as intended, for example because a field it was pinned to has changed or its simulations were deleted. Edit it to fix it.
What the trainer sees
The trainer opens the link and sees the link's name, the name of the workspace that shared it, and the attempts for the simulation, newest first, with a time range, a status filter and paging.
- Simulation: on a link with more than one simulation, a Simulation dropdown at the top switches between them. The attempts, the filters, the CSV and the debrief are for the simulation selected.
- Theme: Dark, Light and System at the top of the page change how the page looks in that browser, for example for a projector.
- Live updates: the page checks for new attempts about every 60 seconds. On the first page, new attempts are added at the top and briefly highlighted. On a later page, a line such as "3 new attempts" appears with a Show button instead, so rows never move under the reader. Refresh reloads right away.
- Time range: a link with Custom dates states its start and end in UTC.
- Filters: All, Completed and In progress, and Today when that narrows the link's time range. On a link that shows names, the trainer can also filter by the choice-list identity fields that the link does not pin, and each of those fields is a column. A link that does not show names has no identity field columns or filters. A value you pinned with Only learners where still limits the attempts on every link.
- Names on a link that shows them: a Hide names switch lets the trainer hide them, for example before sharing a screen. While it is on, rows are numbered in list order across pages: "Learner 1", "Learner 2" and so on, continuing on later pages.
- Names on a link created with names off: each learner appears as a code such as "Learner 7F3A2C". The same learner always has the same code on that link, and a different code on another link.
- An attempt with no learner identifier shows "Anonymous learner".
- Detail: what a trainer can open for an attempt follows What viewers can open.
- Scores: if your workspace disallows scoring, the page and the CSV show feedback and each criterion's result only, with no points, percentages or pass and fail.
- Download CSV: downloads the attempts that match the current filters. It holds up to the latest 10,000 attempts and never includes transcripts. Identity field columns are in the file only on a link that shows names. If the file cannot be fetched, the page says "The CSV could not be downloaded. Try again in a minute."
If the link is turned off, deleted or expired while the page is open, the page shows "This results link is no longer available. Ask the person who shared it with you for a new link."
The AI debrief
When Include an AI debrief is on, the trainer's page shows a Debrief that summarizes how the group did. It can contain How the group did, What went well, Where learners struggled, Possible misconceptions, Progress across attempts, Learners to check in with and a Discussion guide with talking points. Learners to check in with appears only on a link that shows names, and is left out while the trainer hides names.
- It is written only when a viewer selects Create debrief, and refreshed with Update debrief. Opening the page never uses credits.
- It needs at least 3 evaluated attempts. Until then the page says "The debrief appears once at least 3 attempts have been evaluated."
- It reads up to the latest 200 attempts, and says how many it is based on.
- Updates are spaced at least 2 minutes apart. It can be updated when there are new attempts, or when the workspace's scoring setting or the link's Show learner names setting has changed since it was written.
- A debrief stops being shown when it no longer fits the link: when every attempt it was based on has moved out of a rolling time range, or when it was written with scores and the workspace has since disallowed scoring. The trainer can then create a new one.
- A debrief's text is cleared when it is older than the workspace's retention window, and when an owner or admin deletes a learner's data. The trainer can then create a new one. See Data privacy and retention.
- Each update uses the workspace's credits, not the trainer's. What an update uses depends on how many attempts it reads and how long they are, so the form gives no estimate for one update. Daily debrief credit limit caps what a link may spend across all of its simulations, with a default of 5,000 credits. The limit counts the last 24 hours, not a calendar day. At the limit the page says "This debrief has reached its update limit for today." If the workspace is out of credits, it says "The debrief cannot be updated right now. Ask the person who shared this link."
Privacy
- Anyone who has the link can open it without signing in. Share it only with people who should see the results. The form says so each time.
- Names appear only when you turned Show learner names on and were allowed to. The trainer's Hide names switch can only hide them.
- Turning Allow results links off makes every link unavailable at once. Turning it back on makes them work again, except for links an owner or admin turned off or deleted in the meantime.
- Identity fields are shared only together with names: a link that does not show names shows no identity field values on the page or in the CSV.
- Turn a single link off, delete it, or let it expire to stop sharing it.
- Every page the trainer sees says "Results are AI evaluated and may have been adjusted by a reviewer."
- Creating, changing and deleting a link is recorded in the workspace's audit log, along with turning results links on or off. The entry never holds the link's address. See Members and roles.
AI tools over MCP
An AI tool connected through the MCP server can list, create, update and delete results links. Creating, changing and deleting ask for confirmation, and every rule on this page applies to them in the same way, including who may create links, learner names and credits. While results links are off, it can still turn a link off or delete it for an owner or admin, and nothing else. A person who may not see learner names can use it only to turn off or delete a link that shows names. It cannot change the two workspace settings; those are changed here by an owner or admin.
